MSF Section / Context Specific Accountabilities

Coordinate and supervise Nutrition and Medical, activities of the project for:

  • The malnourished children aged between (1 month till 10 years) in Nelifa Kiji nutrition program ensuring quality care of the beneficiaries as per MSF guidelines.
  • Medical doctors and other medical staff providing direct care to patients are aware of MSF guidelines for the malnourished children in our nutrition program (includes admission criteria, management of care, discharge criteria and referral criteria).
  • Trainings both formal and informal (bedside), coaching, case discussions.
  • Availability of MSF protocols in the wards for reference
  • Mortality Review conference is done monthly, and mortality reports submitted.

Supervision and follow up of all patients record to ensure complete documentation for proper data collection & entry:

  • Regular follow-up of patients’ admission files and registers in place.
  • Standard morbidity list, cause of death, and reason for referral are captured on the folder at the right time
  • Comparison of line list with E-register in collaboration with Data manager
  • Ensuring ICU entrance and exit forms are completed

Ensure proper planning and supervision of HR needs in close coordination with HR:

  • Preparation of monthly roster and daily task distribution
  • Leave planning and tracking of staff under his or her responsibility
  • Management of gaps in case of absenteeism.
  • Priority setting, feedback feed-forward process, and development of staff.

Submit regular Project medical reports in a timely manner:

  • Monthly sitreps from units / departments, any statistics on request.
  • The referral database is completed, and a report of activity is submitted every month

Co-ordinate to improve the quality of care in services rendered in the facility:

  • Ensuring Mortality Review / audit, Morbidity audit, and Rational Antibiotic prescriptions are done
  • Follow up on the implementation of the quality improvement plan
  • Periodic review of the progress and revisiting of the activities where need be
  • The cycle should continue and add other gaps identified after finding the root cause and developing activities to follow.
  • Ensuring the medical staff are aware of the medical policy on patient safety incidents and Reporting is done appropriately

Surveillance system:

  • In collaboration with the data manager in ensuring the strengthening of the surveillance system in the facility
  • Ensuring all cases with suspected communicable diseases meeting the criteria of admission are Isolated, line-listed, and relevant authorities( internal and external) are notified.
  • Ensuring all Needed samples for confirmation are collected by the relevant authority( MSF, MOH )

In collaboration with the Antimicrobial stewardship focal point:

  • Ensuring the medical and nonmedical staff are aware of AMS activity
  • Ensure Rational prescription of antibiotic
  • Periodic Point prevalence survey and Rational prescription Analysis are done and constructive feedback is given to the team
  • Actively participate in the Operational research and studies planned by the project to carry out during the duration of his contract.
  • Ensuring the good use of telemedicine by the Medical Doctors.
  • Supporting the SRH project in case of need
