KNOWLEDGE:

• A thorough knowledge of the principles relating to the design, and operation of turbines and control systems.
• The ability to apply these principles to the direction of other disciplines in the performance of turbine package engineering assignments relative to the support of turbo-machinery projects.
• The individual in this position must be generally familiar with commercial and contractual practices typical to projects of this type.
• This individual must me be sufficiently familiar with Solar’s organization and practices to direct a wide-range of activities to accomplish project requirements.

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY:

• Typically develops solution to technical and commercial problems. Directs design studies and applies results to hardware.
• Must be able to achieve coordination of complex projects by working with design, contract. commercial and production planning specialists.

WORK DIRECTION AND LATITUDE:

• Requires limited supervision. Exercises considerable latitude in determination of technical objectives. Would typically direct project from booking project sale to commissioning of the turbomachinery. Work is self-started. Individual must be innovative and inventive to solve technical or product problems.

PROJECT/PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

• Exercises leadership from booking of project sale to installation commissioning of turbo-machinery equipment. The successful completion of these projects bear directly on the organizational objectives. Is responsible for the soundness of technical design and application of equipment as well as sound business practice. Is responsible for the acceptability of quality and design of turbine package equipment delivered to the customer with the confines of the contract. Is responsible for schedule achievement and project profitability. Profit margin is controlled within plus or minus two percentage points of revenue.

FOCUS:

• Obtain technical definition of project. Insure technical and commercial strategy is well understood throughout the manufacturing and engineering project team. Coordinate project schedule with both the customer and production
• control. Interface with the customer on technical and commercial matters. Prepares cost estimates at booking; at cash and at shipment. Monitors progress to schedule in engineering, provisioning and production operations. Monitors and approves Customer Drawings and Operation/Maintenance Manuals. Periodically inspect progress of turbine package on shop floor to assure compliance to specification resolving problems quickly.
• Represent customers interest with respect to quality problem resolution. Assure project revenue recognition and profitability are timely and are in concert with Company financial plan.

LIAISON:

• Represents the project management organization and is the prime technical and contractual authority responsible for the execution of projects.
• Interfaces with internal management of the Company as well as customers. Internal contacts may be in all major business units of the Company worldwide. External contacts are senior management of major clients and sub-suppliers.

BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION:

• Major contribution to achievement of Company objectives through realization of project profitability; customer satisfaction with the execution of project schedule; quality of drawings and equipment delivered; primary representative of the Company to the customer from booking to commissioning.
