Job Description

We are looking for a process-driven Tax Compliance Officer to ensure our company’s taxrelated practices and procedures comply with state and federal tax laws. Your primary responsibilities will include keeping up-to-date with tax regulations and guidelines that are set forth by government agencies and tax authorities. You will determine regulatory requirements, address compliance risks, and oversee tax compliance training with internal staff members. You will also monitor operational procedures, such as filing income tax returns as per company policies and reviewing tax deductibles as part of our compensation programs. Our ideal candidate should be certified tax compliance professional with extensive knowledge of tax regulations, treaties, guidelines, pricing, and indirect taxation. You should have excellent accounting and budgeting skills to review and assess compiled financials successfully. The ability to interpret IRS statutes and regulations is essential as you will be responsible for conducting tax compliance audits on a regular basis. We expect you to be familiar with compliance platforms like ADP SmartCompliance, as you will need to handle administrative tasks like bookkeeping and tax reporting. Prior experience working for a financial institution is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify regulatory issues and concerns associated with tax compliance by reviewing contracts, policies, and guidelines of the company
  • Ensure our company’s internal processes are compliant with existing tax laws by monitoring tax development at local and national levels
  • Negotiate with tax authorities to resolve tax payment issues and ensure tax filings are submitted within the estimated timelines
  • Provide guidance to the finance, accounting, and operational teams on compliance requirements and applicable tax criteria
  • Advise senior management on compliance risks and tax liabilities regarding our corporate strategies, including emerging laws and trends
  • Monitor compliance training sessions and discussions to ensure internal staff is educated on tax laws, processes, and guidelines
  • Review income tax returns, monitor tax-deductible expenses, and issue business permits and licenses as and when required
  • Manage and improve internal tax audit capabilities to identify tax exposures and compliance risks before external audits take place
  • Maintain the company’s tax database, update tax rates, and correct data errors to ensure tax filings are accurately processed
  • In charge of Regulatory Tax Audit & Investigations
  • As Tax Advisory services to the CFO

Qualifications

  • University degree in any Accounting, Economics
  • Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria
  • Must have completed NYSC.
  • 3- 5 years in Tax Administration and Management
