Role description
The finance assistant will support our financial department. The responsibilities of a finance assistant include processing payments, updating financial records, monitoring budgets, and managing invoices. As a finance assistant, you should have strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, good organizational skills, and working knowledge of accounting software.
Responsibilities: Specific duties include
- Understanding individual project requirements and ensuring compliance
- Extracting and reviewing data for reports
- Processing payments for vendors and staff
- Developing project financial reports
Required competencies:
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and use of accounting software (QuickBooks)
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Good knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting reporting standards
- Good organizational skills
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent time management skills
- High level of integrity and reliability
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (First- or second-class upper) from a recognized university in accounting, finance, mathematics, or business administration
- Minimum one-year post-NYSC experience in a relevant field
- Industry knowledge of best practices, policies, and current regulations in accounting
- Additional certifications in accounting or auditing preferred
- Experience in an Audit firm, financial services, and management consulting is an advantage
