Job Description

  • We are seeking a staff attorney to join our management team to support our business development efforts. This position is NOT focused on litigation; and it is NOT focused on “corporate affairs”.
  • This is a market-facing position that supports business development within the framework of contract and commercial law.
  • This position will provide support to clients by providing operational guidance and support in commercial transactions as well as general business development support.

Responsibilities
Successful candidates would be expected to do the following:

  • Provide transactional, institutional, corporate affairs, and general administrative support.
  • Work closely with the corporate finance staff on transactions, partnerships, valuations and acquisitions when needed.
  • Provide timely and strategic legal advice to management.
  • Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.
  • Provide general guidance on business development and related operational endeavors.
  • Conduct hearings to obtain information or evidence relative to disposition of claims between clients.
  • Use effective alternative dispute resolution techniques to facilitate communication and effectuate resolution between disputants.

Job Requirements

  • Very Strong interest in business development.
  • Demonstrated track record in a corporate leadership, business development or management role.
  • The ideal candidate will bring a solid legal background as well as strong quantitative aptitude.
  • Furthermore, candidates will be expected to bring good solid judgment and an amiable personality in addition to the core technical skills outlined above.
  • Strong interest in business development, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, agricultural or industrial development would be highly advantageous in this role.
  • In addition to a solid legal background, training and/or experience in alternative dispute resolution would be advantageous in this position.
  • Prior experience as an entrepreneur, business manager, investment banker, finance analyst, mergers & acquisitions specialist, valuation analyst, or similar market-facing positions would be extremely beneficial.
  • Prior experience in international trade or cross-border business development would be a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to READILY relocate to Umuahia, Abia State.
