Job Description

  • We are seeking to employ an experienced and dedicated Short Order Cook to join our growing team. As part of our dynamic kitchen, you will be responsible for preparing our famous burgers, grilling chicken, baking burger buns etc, and ensuring the timely and quality preparation of all menu items.
  • The ideal candidate must be reliable, able to work well under pressure while maintaining the highest food safety standards, and have a passion for working in the food service industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items, including burger patties, chicken, and sides, according to Gidi Burger’s recipes and quality standards.
  • Bake, grill, cook all menu items and ensure consistency in food presentation.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and adhering to hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure food safety and proper handling of ingredients, from preparation to storage.
  • Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and alerting management when reordering is necessary.
  • Handle customer inquiries and special requests courteously and professionally.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a minimum of SSCE / GCE / NECO qualification.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a short order cook or in a similar role (minimum 1 year preferred).
  • Location: Applicants must live within a 5-30minute commute to our location (i.e reside within Surulere and its environs).
  • Language: Must be able to speak, write, and understand good English.
  • Availability: Must be able to work weekends and public holidays. The role requires alternating daily shifts, 6 days a week, with one day off.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods and handle a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Computer literacy: Basic computer literacy is required particularly with tasks related to order processing, inventory management, and communication.
  • Medical Testing: Applicants will be required to undergo periodic medical tests, including a food handler’s test, as part of our commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Identification: Must have a NIN Slip.
  • Must have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Work Schedule:

  • Shift Pattern: Alternating shifts (e.g., morning, evening and straight shifts).
  • Work Week: 6 days a week, with 1 day off.
  • Weekend/Public Holiday Work: Required.
