Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to perform the duties of an SAP Materials Management (MM) Lead within KPMG in West Africa. The successful applicant will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SAP S/4Hana Materials Management and will spearhead our functional transformation initiatives within the SAP S/4Hana Materials Management module, utilizing extensive knowledge of SAP MM to play a key role in client engagements, leading projects from initial requirements gathering to successful go-live and post-production support. The successful candidate will engage with KPMG member firms across different African countries and will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to our clients in optimizing their inventory, warehouse and purchasing processes and leveraging SAP MM functionality to drive business success. This role demands a visionary leader who can blend strategic consulting with technical SAP expertise to deliver comprehensive, efficient, and innovative solutions. Roles and  Responsibilities: 

Overall:

  • Demonstrate deep technical knowledge of the SAP platform and solutions, particularly the SAP S/4Hana Materials Management module and related processes and Lines of Business
  • Successfully manage complex projects regarding SAP solutions and related projects to deliver value to diverse clients.
  • Keep abreast and provide regular updates on any developments in SAP S/4Hana Materials Management.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, lead meetings and workshops.
  • Research current and emerging technologies and propose changes where needed.

Manage Engagements

  • Provide technical knowledge, direction, and training to the engagement teams to produce quality deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Building and promoting strong client relationships by understanding client needs and proposing digital initiatives or SAP capabilities to serve their needs. 
  • Providing and facilitating the involvement of subject matter experts for the components of the client’s requirements strategy during the formulation stage. 
  • Presentation to project committees or board of directors (where relevant) on the project status, recommendations, and action plans. 
  • Provides leadership and guidance to teams throughout the implementation to ensure accurate delivery of project plans.
  • Manage engagement risk.

Technical Delivery

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and provide services as an expert in SAP Materials Management (MM) including system configuration and customization, system support, data migration, testing, training, quality assurance and business process review.
  • Lead and manage all phases of SAP MM implementation projects, including requirement gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, training, data migration, integration with other modules (e.g., FI, SD, PP, QM, etc.), and post-go-live support.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business processes, requirements, and objectives, and translate them into effective SAP MM system solutions.
  • Configure and customize the SAP MM module to align with client-specific business processes and industry best practices including master data, procure-to-pay processes, inventory management, warehouse management, costing, intra and intercompany STO processes, material ledger, and invoice verification. 
  • Conduct training sessions, develop, and deliver comprehensive training manuals to ensure user adoption and proficiency.
  • Oversee and perform system testing to ensure all functionalities are working as expected and troubleshoot any identified issues.
  • Lead data migration activities, including data mapping, cleansing, conversion, and validation, to ensure accurate and timely migration of legacy data to the SAP system.
  • Provide ongoing post-production support to clients, performing system analysis, addressing system issues, resolving user queries, and recommending process improvements.
  • Provide expert guidance and advice to clients on SAP MM best practices, industry trends, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Lead and mentor junior consultants and project team members, providing training, guidance, and support as needed.
  • Conduct workshops, presentations, and knowledge-sharing sessions to educate clients and project stakeholders on SAP MM functionality, capabilities, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other SAP functional teams (e.g., FI, SD, PP, QM, etc.) and technical teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of SAP MM with other modules and systems.

Business Development

  • Brings credibility in terms of SAP Materials Management product knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with decision makers at key clients.
  • Engage in face-to-face client interaction to drive opportunities forward.
  • Engage in business development and proposal development efforts.
  • Identify transformation opportunities based on a thorough understanding of the SAP S/4Hana market in West Africa.
  • Articulate the benefits and features of SAP products and services.
  • Contribute towards meeting the expected revenue numbers as agreed with the leadership.
  • Manage the opportunity lifecycle in the pipeline (proposals preparations, delivery, billings etc.).

Skills and attributes required for the role:

Professional Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and leading SAP MM projects with significant S/4HANA experience.
  • Proven track record of leading successful SAP MM implementations, training, data migration, integration with other modules, and support.
  • SAP certification in S/4HANA Materials Management is required.
  • Experience with SAP Warehouse Management and Ariba Sourcing is a strong plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing large teams and complex projects.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • In-depth experience and sound knowledge of SAP Methodologies, technologies and testing tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and writing to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be outcomes and deliverables focused, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organisational, project management and leadership skills.
  • Proficient at working in diverse multi-national teams.
  • Coaching and mentoring of junior staff.
