Job Description

  • The Public Relations Officer (PRO) will be responsible for managing the public image and reputation of the company.
  • This role involves creating and maintaining a positive public profile for the company, managing media relations, and overseeing communication strategies to engage with stakeholders, including customers, partners, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update an appropriate communications strategy and work plan, which implements the corporate communications strategy, to build and expand the brand and reputation of Nine Stars Limited, and support fundraising activities.
  • Track and analyze traditional and online media, to identify trends and/or issues, and propose solutions and ideas to improve the effectiveness of communication strategy and activities.
  • Write core communication products that effectively convey the desired messages to targeted audience(s) field stories, media messages, news and press releases, speeches, and op-eds.
  • Plan and deliver communication campaigns that favorably impact the views of the public, opinion leaders, Nigerian government, and donors to increase support for Nine Stars Limited and create an enabling environment for fundraising.
  • Actively seek opportunities to generate news and media attention about Nine Stars Limited.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and influencers.
  • Draft and pitch press releases and organize media events to enhance the company’s image.
  • Write and edit content for press releases, articles, speeches, and social media.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the company’s brand and messaging.
  • Develop crisis communication plans and act as the spokesperson during crises.
  • Monitor media sentiment and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Plan and coordinate events, including product launches and press conferences.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure successful execution.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation.
  • Respond to inquiries and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Oversee social media content and engagement.
  • Monitor social media performance and report on campaign effectiveness.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all channels.
  • Monitor the company’s reputation and collaborate on promotional campaigns.
  • Support internal communication to keep employees informed.
  • Coordinate communication efforts across departments for alignment with company strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years proven experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with media, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using media monitoring and social listening tools.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and external partners to achieve common goals.
  • Crisis management experience is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • May require occasional travel to attend events, meetings, or media engagements.
  • Availability to work outside regular business hours, particularly during crises or major events.
