REPORTING TO: Head of Programs.

ORGANIZATION: GHIV Africa (Implementing Partner with UNICEF Protection Project)

JOB SUMMARY

GHIV Africa seeks a Protection Officer to support the UNICEF-funded project aimed at ending child marriage. The Protection Officer will ensure effective implementation of protection activities, community engagement, and capacity building.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct sensitization and awareness creation in communities on child protection issues and the negative impact of early marriages.
  2. Facilitate workshops with government stakeholders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.
  3. Establish and manage safe spaces for adolescent girls.
  4. Provide training on life skills, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) knowledge, and services.
  5. Offer comprehensive case management services, including counseling and referrals.
  6. Register adolescents on the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) data platform.
  7. Collaborate with vocational training providers to deliver entrepreneurship skills training.
  8. Distribute startup kits for income-generating activities to adolescent girls.
  9. Assign to any other related duties.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, or related field.
  2. 2-3 years of experience in child protection, social work, or related field.
  3. Strong community engagement and facilitation skills.
  4. Ability to work in challenging environments.
  5. Fluency in local languages (Hausa) and English.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience working with UNICEF or similar organizations.
  2. Knowledge of Knowledge of Child Protection Management System (CPIMS) data platform.
  3. Familiarity with Zamfara State’s cultural context.
