Job summary

Program and Research Assistant will assist the Program and Research unit to ensure all programs are well put together and happen on the set date. Coordinate all pre-event, post event activities of programs. Assist in organization of Welcome2Africa database while assisting in conduction standard research activities within and outside the organization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Programs

  •  Work with the program manager in the design, implementation and management of Welcome2Africa International programs, identify opportunities for new initiatives or program expansion towards achieving the organizations vision and mission.
  • Facilitate partnership with government agencies, donor organizations, private firms, international organizations and other service providers interested in trade and investment in Africa.  
  • Work with the program manager in carrying out stakeholder mapping
  • Adequately maintain and update stakeholders and partners database under the supervision of the program’s manager. 
  • make phone calls and send out emails to follow up with partners/stakeholders.
  • Implementing and monitoring Standard Operating Procedure for all program activities.
  • Participate in developing and nurturing collaborations with external partners including donors and individual supporters, policy makers, media and other stake holders.
  • Ensure that all staff and volunteers adhere to the project implementation principles. 
  • Assist with day-to-day administrative duties of the programs unit
  • Keep track of all discussions with sponsors, speakers, and delegates 
  • Manage assigned programs 
  • Interface with Admin to assist in any logistics planning, pre-event logistics management, as well as onsite and post-event logistics.
  • Develop some program materials
  • Assist in the business development part of programs.
  • Keep track of meetings  (Online/Offline)
  • Account for the likelihood that event will encourage the participation of paying delegates.
  • Highlights current issues faced with Agricultural Value Chain financing in Africa, key issues which will be addressed by the event
  • Assist in creation of Program, Delivery of Program Sourcing, securing and managing speakers related to Agricultural Value Chain financing in Africa,
  • Assist in identifying and inviting speakers maintaining communication throughout the conference production cycle
  • Communicate by phone and email with key industry figures to determine the validity of proposed topic, sub-themes, timing and locations
  • Collating of content for Website and the summit itself
  • Securing of key partners and sponsors
  • Research all possible events covering the proposed topic to analyze potential conflicts in dates or overexposure
  • Assist in writing the conference program and to attend to all matters relating to the successful conduct of the event.
  • Assist in highlighting possible sponsors and support the marketing of sponsorship opportunities for events and supervising the work of sales and marketing staff
  • Assist in planning for a post-conference internal and external reports
  • Assist in budgeting, financial and cash management for the events.
  • Research and DataBase . 
  • support in developing material and help develop a proposal to secure funding.
  • Oversees database development and modification efforts.
  • Designs and implements secure, efficient, and accurate databases.
  • Maintains current and accurate knowledge of data storage and management best practices.
  • Ensures that databases are designed to meet specifications and requirements at the lowest possible costs.
  • Develops and maintains documentation and standards.
  • Help in planning, research project, coordinating tasks, preparing surveys, scheduling interviews and identifying statistical models and analysis techniques to use. 
  • Reviewing published literature and producing literature reviews
  • Conduct valid and reliable SWOT analyses of market research, Agric commodity research 
  • Remain fully informed about market trends, third-party research, and implement best practices
  • Under the leadership of Research officer; collaborate with Trade and Investment lead, business developer and program officer to understand goals and needs
  • Research on donors that are interested in funding organizations that are focused on agri businesses and prepare grant proposals.
  • Identify and compile list of potential investors, partners and relevant stakeholders that the organization can work with.
  • Work with the investment analyst to map out beneficial agri investment pathways and come up with initiatives that will be of interest to investors.
  • Manage and respond to project related emails and attend project meetings
  • Prepare, maintain and update website materials
  • Prepare articles, reports and presentations on behalf of the organization.
  • Any other tasks as maybe assigned by my supervisors

Job Specification

Academic Qualification

  • Minimum requirement of BSC/HND in Computer studies, Economics, Business Administration or any other related field

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as Program or research Personnel/Assistant

Professional Certification

  • MBA or any relevant professional certification will be an advantage
