Position Purpose

DKT International Nigeria is set out to recruit Research, M&E Specialist to be based at Lagos, Nigeria. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Program Manager.

In support of DKT Nigeria’s aim to put research and knowledge at the heart of program development’ you will provide expert support to Research, Monitoring and Evaluation work in the organization. The M&E Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the application of global best practices in data generation and utilization, designing data quality assurance mechanisms, analyzing monitoring data, building M&E capacity, overseeing research and M&E components, and providing valuable insights to stakeholders.  The M&E Specialist will work closely with the Programs Manager and stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, provide insights, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making and the development of impactful marketing and communication intervention.

This position will involve travel within Nigeria.

Job Description

  • Apply global best practices in generating and utilizing routine data for all programs, considering DKT Nigeria’s existing monitoring system.
  • Design and implement data quality assurance mechanisms to ensure accuracy, reliability, and completeness of data.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to analyze routine monitoring data, provide evidence for innovative social marketing interventions and continuous improvement by emphasizing the use of marketing dashboards for decision-making.
  • Develop research plans to collect and/or analyze data to guide the development of high-quality marketing & communications campaigns for digital and mass media communications. Use marketing & consumer insight data effectively to facilitate the development of marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee all Research, M&E components of the organization including project’s results frameworks, M&E Plan, annual work plans, quarterly reports, semi-annual and annual reports;
  • Design and implement M&E tools and checklist to measure project impact that align with the project’s strategic goals and performance indicators;
  • Coordinate data entry and processing and develop a data analysis plan according to reporting requirements;
  • Interact with the donor, government stakeholders and other stakeholders and partners on M&E-related matters, including providing regular updates on program accomplishments and challenges.
  • Conduct formative research using qualitative research methods such as focus group discussions, in-depth interviews with consumers and providers, and other relevant techniques to inform program design and implementation.
  • Develop and administer quantitative research methods and appropriate sampling methodologies such as consumer surveys and household surveys to gather quantitative data.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data using statistical software, qualitative data analysis tools, and other relevant analytical techniques.
  • Interpret data findings and present clear and concise reports, summaries, and visualizations to stakeholders, highlighting key insights and recommendations. Collaborate with program teams to identify and address data gaps, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure data quality through the implementation of rigorous data collection protocols, conducting data verification and validation exercises, and overseeing data management processes.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in M&E practices, methodologies, and technologies, proactively applying relevant knowledge to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Support capacity building efforts by providing training and guidance to staff and partners on M&E methodologies, tools, and best practices.

Who we looking for

  • Master’s degree or higher in health management & marketing, public health, health informatics, information sciences, behavioral sciences, epidemiology, population studies, or a related field;
  • At least 5 years’ experience designing and implementing M&E activities for complex programs with strong consumer and marketing inputs;
  •  Proven experience designing and implementing M&E frameworks, including: routine data collection, data quality assurance, and data use;
  • Experience in measuring activity outcomes and supporting activity supervision in M&E;
  • Experience in both quantitative and qualitative data collection, aggregation, analysis and report writing;
  • Proven experience with statistical analysis software, such as SPSS, STATA, or R is a must.
  • Proven experience with software to analyze qualitative data (such as Ethnograph or nViVo) is preferable;
  • Strong writing and organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, mentoring and capacity building skills; a strong track record of writing and/or publishing research reports will be considered a plus;
  • Familiarity with M&E tools and methodologies
  • Ability to interpret data and explain findings to non-technical audiences;
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, including speaking and writing;
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight at field.
