Job Summary

  • We seek to hire a consummate legal professional with a strong personality, good people management skills, and the ability to work as a team player to support the improvements to its disciplinary process.
  • H/she would function within in the Rules and Adjudication Department; managing NGX RegCo’s Disciplinary unit.
  • H/she will report to the Head, Rules and Adjudication Department within NGX RegCo.

Responsibilities

  • Working with other business departments to manage NGX RegCo’s Disciplinary Process for Trading License Holders and other relevant stakeholders of The Exchange in line with approved Disciplinary framework and Rules, bearing in mind best practice and international standards.
  • Establishing, running and sustaining the approved Disciplinary Process of The Exchange.
  • Providing support to The Exchange’s disciplinary organs and by extension, enterprise-wide support to all structures involved in the Disciplinary process.
  • Engaging and interfacing with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other identified stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Participating in recovery exercises against entities and persons indebted to investors, NGX RegCo and The Exchange.
  • Maintenance and management of databases for Cautions placed by NGX RegCo, and Complaints received from stakeholders.

Person Specification & Required Qualification(s)

  • A Law Degree with 5 to 7 years’ post NYSC working experience (litigation and transactional) and at least 1 year of managerial experience.
  • Strong understanding of Securities laws and a good understanding of laws affecting the Capital Markets, including ISA, SEC Rules, NGX Rules and CAMA.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management ability in a complex organisation.
  • Sound business and legal judgment with problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be able to build strong partnerships with business and colleagues, as well as communicate to a wide variety of audiences in clear professional language.
  • Strong analytical, multitasking and communication skills.
  • Use of computer tools such as MS Outlook, and Word.
