Job Purpose
- Support the maintenance team in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities.
- The Maintenance Officer plays a crucial role in addressing maintenance needs promptly, adhering to safety standards, and contributing to the overall productivity and profitability of the business.
Roles and Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on hatchery machinery, poultry equipment, and related facilities.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Assist in the development and execution of preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and machinery.
- Conduct regular checks to identify and address potential issues before they lead to downtime.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, as well as compliance with local and national regulations.
- Participate in safety audits and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and parts used.
- Prepare reports as needed to track equipment performance and maintenance costs.
Inventory Management:
- Assist in managing the inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Communicate inventory needs to the Maintenance Manager to ensure the availability of essential items.
Team Support:
- Collaborate with the maintenance team, providing assistance and support as needed.
- Assist in training and mentorship activities for less experienced team members.
Emergency Response:
- Be available for emergency maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime during critical situations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a poultry hatchery or similar industrial setting.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
