Job Summary

Employee’s Duties & Responsibilities
The key result areas of this role are:

  • Coordinate all infertility diagnostic tests and treatment plans between patients and physicians.
  • Perform routine examinations, and procedures, and administer medications.
  • Educate and counsel patients on treatment protocols, medications and infertility procedures.
  • Assist with retrievals and transfers including pre and post-op care.
  • Responsible for the triagingof patients regarding their medication, treatment plans and procedures.
  • Maintain patient’s charting, testing and flow sheets.
  • Communicate highly sensitive information, with empathy and reassurance.
  • Responsible for all ongoing communication between the physician and the patient.
  • Instruct patients on how to administer fertility medications, including subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
  • Counsel patients on treatment options and programs.
  • Performing ultrasounds to screen for uterine fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and other conditions that may affect fertility treatment.
  • Preparing medications and administering them to patients according to the needs of each case.
  • Responsible for updating patient records following treatment (e.g. clinical observations following oocyte recovery) and providing verbal advice.
  • Manage patient’s waiting lists, maintenance and scheduling cycles such as scheduling embryo transfers, embryo retrievals, frozen egg cycles and intrauterine insemination.
  • Manage IVF schedule to coordinate clinical and lab workload.
  • Monitor and ensure proper ordering of all clinical supplies.
  • Maintain adequate stock control of supplies and drugs in the department.
  • Ensure examination rooms are properly stocked.

The Person

  • Minimum academic qualification of Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc), or Master’s degree in Nursing with a focus on reproductive health.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience as an IVF Nurse
  • Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology Nursing (CRN) is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package.
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written), interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
