Job Summary

  • This position is essential to lead our team of housekeepers and to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Responsibilities include organizing employee shifts, training and motivating team members, and checking private and public areas for tidiness.
  • To be successful in this role, you should have a good understanding of room cleaning, common areas and team management abilities.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Paying detailed attention to rooms and ensuring standards at all times
  • Train housekeepers on cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee staff on a daily basis.
  • Check rooms and common areas, including stairways and lounge areas, for neatness.
  • Schedule shifts and arrange for replacements in cases of absence.
  • Establish and educate staff on cleanliness, tidiness, and hygiene standards.
  • Motivate team members and resolve any issues when needed.
  • Respond to customer complaints and special requests.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning materials, including floor cleaner, bleach, detergents, air fresheners, disinfectants, etc.
  • Participate in emergency cleaning when need arises.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas.
  • Developing staff schedules.
  • Suggest best cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Working with hotel guests who have specific housekeeping needs.
  • Coordinating housekeeping needs with other departments.
  • Performing cleaning tasks when staff don’t show up for work or the team is shorthanded
  • Ensuring SOPs are followed at all times
  • Maintain the best hygiene standard practices in the hotel. 
  • Manage laundry requirements and maintain agreed standards.
  • Contribute towards the smooth running of the hotel operations. 
  • Manage guests housekeeping expectations and deal with and resolve all queries.
  • Quality management of hotel housekeeping.
  • Allocate workloads to team members.
  • Carry out periodic room & facility checks to ensure proper hygiene procedures are followed always.

Requirements

  • Work experience as a housekeeping supervisor or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for large organizations.
  • Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products.
  • Excellent organizational and team management skills.
  • Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends where necessary. 
  • B.sc, OND, HND or its equivalent
