Job Summary:
- This is a full-time on-site role for a Finance Officer located in Lagos.
- The Finance Officer (Payables) is responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and implementing effective internal controls.
- This role plays a crucial part in the company’s financial operations and cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and review invoices for accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with company policies and procedures
- Manage the timely payment of vendor invoices within set terms
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all payables transactions and supporting documentation
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or disputes
- Provide reports on accounts payable, cash flow, and other relevant metrics to management
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and other financial reports
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure proper documentation and approvals for new vendors
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls and segregation of duties for the accounts payable function
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations, tax laws, and best practices related to accounts payable
- Provide training and guidance to the accounts payable team to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable or finance operations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately
- Proficient in using accounting software and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with vendors and cross-functional teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
- Knowledge of accounts payable best practices, internal controls, and regulatory compliance
- Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification is preferred
- Experience in the F&B or hospitality industry is a plus
