Position Overview:

The Finance Officer will be responsible for assisting the head of Finance in managing financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is crucial in supporting the bank’s financial health and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  2. Transaction Management:
    • Monitor and process daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Maintain and reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to support financial decision-making.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
    • Assist in conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.
  5. Auditing:
    • Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and reports.
    • Implement recommended improvements to financial processes.
  6. Customer Service:
    • Address inquiries from clients and stakeholders regarding financial transactions and account statuses.
    • Support clients in understanding financial products and services.
  7. Administrative Support:
    • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
    • Assist in managing financial data and reports for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of [3 years] experience in a finance role, preferably in a banking or microfinance environment.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards in Nigeria.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements:

  • Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, ICAN) will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with microfinance products and services is a plus.
  • Commitment to ethical banking practices and community development.
