Key Responsibilities:

  • The Finance Intern will work under the supervision of the Finance Manager and will be responsible for assisting in the following areas:

Financial Record-Keeping:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  • Support in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and budgets.
  • Help track project expenses and ensure adherence to budget guidelines.

Accounts Payable/Receivable:

  •   Process invoices, receipts, and other financial documents.
  •   Assist in the reconciliation of accounts and prepare relevant documentation for audits.

Data Entry & Analysis:

  •    Input financial transactions into accounting systems and software.
  •    Assist in preparing monthly financial analyses and forecasts.

Compliance & Auditing Support:

  •  Ensure that SWOGE’s financial practices align with internal policies and donor requirements.
  •  Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring the availability of relevant documentation.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with general administrative duties within the finance department, including organizing files, managing correspondence, and other tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • A university degree or current enrollment in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with accounting software is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality in financial matters.

Compensation:

  • This is an unpaid internship; however, SWOGE MAY provide a monthly stipend for transportation and meals.
