Job Summary:
- We seek an analytical and detail-oriented Finance Associate who is enthusiastic about researching, forecasting, and analyzing financial trends, providing vital insights that enable businesses to make informed decisions.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing required and valuable support in analyzing the financial functions and services with accuracy, as well as providing appropriate solutions to achieve the financial goals and objectives of FATE Foundation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for FATE Foundation’s financial operations as well as for general compliance.
- Deliver adequate plans and reporting of the internal control and risk management framework as well as report risk management issues and ensure that internal control deficiencies are identified and escalated appropriately to the Finance and Investments Manager.
- Ensure the processing and proper management of petty cash operations by preparing periodic reports and ensuring that guidelines are fully implemented
- Carry out all financial reporting, which includes but is not limited to bank reconciliations and the posting of expenditures, as well as ensure that all accounts, including cash, checks, and online transfers, are effectively filed for audit purposes.
- Manage and ensure reconciliation of budgets and expenses for events and projects as required.
- Assist with management and board financial reports, as well as generate, explain, and present relevant schedules or computations to support the treatment of transaction postings.
- Oversee and review the preparation of budgets and accounts to facilitate better planning and decision-making.
- Manage, track, and update the financial record system as well as recommend remedial procedures for better efficacy.
- Carry out financial audits and the implementation of management letters.
- Collate all submitted budgets and planned expenditure to the Finance Manager and ensure disbursement of funds is in line with the approved budget.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3 – 5 years’ work experience in the financial services or consulting sector.
- Possess sound knowledge of financial accounting procedures and practices.
- In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and book-keeping.
- Good understanding of local and international accounting standards and practices (GAAP, IFRS etc.).
- Strong technical know-how and understanding of accounting and internal controls.
- Excellent knowledge of the relevant IFRS and IAS.
- Strong proficiencies in Microsoft office suite and QuickBooks.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential and complex information.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Interpersonal and networking skills.
- Ability to develop innovative ideas.
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline, from an accredited university.
- A master’s degree in Accounting, Auditing or Finance will be an added advantage.
- Professional certification in finance or accounting from a recognized professional body (e.g., CFA, ACCA, ICAN, etc.).
- Very strong interest and passion for the non-profit or development sector.
