Job Summary
- The Executive Director serves as the chief executive of the organization and is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic direction of the organization.
- The Executive Director will lead the organization in a manner that supports and guides the mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the organization and implement the organization’s vision and strategic objectives.
- Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement policies, plans, and goals that further the organization’s mission.
- Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
- Oversee financial planning and management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and fundraising.
- Ensure that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
- Work with the Board and staff to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization.
- Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
- Assist in the selection and evaluation of board members.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
- Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance the organization’s Mission.
- Oversee the implementation of human resources policies, procedures, and practices including the development of job descriptions for all staff.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, laws, and policies that apply to the organization and its programs.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record of effectively leading a performance- and outcomes-based organization.
- Commitment to the organization’s mission and a clear understanding of the role.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an executive director or in other managerial positions in a non-profit organization.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.
- Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, PR, fundraising, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
