Our client is a fast-growing agricultural company. They currently have an opening for a Commercial Manager in Kogi State. 

Reporting Line: Reports to the Managing Director

Job Overview

This role will oversee the end-to-end process of sourcing, in-bound and outbound logistics, sales, and distribution of finished goods on behalf of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and continually improve systems, structures, policies, processes and tools that assist the company identify and maximize revenue opportunities from its cassava derivatives business
  • Analyze sales potential of all key products and translate into volume targets for all target customers across key markets
  • Lead new customer acquisition on behalf of the business and manage all customer relationships
  • Develop and lead the implementation of a standardized order fulfillment process that consistently satisfies customer demand at optimum supply chain cost
  • Establish, maintain and coordinate systems designed to ensure consistent sourcing of key input materials at levels that guarantee finished goods production at volumes required to service pre-agreed customer requirements
  • Undertake regular risk assessment of input supply and finished product off-take and develop contingency plans to
  • mitigate identified risks
  • Gather, analyze, and provide industry and competitor intelligence information on a regular and continuous basis
  • Team recruitment, training, and development

Coordinate and work with all internal teams to:

  • Translate customer requirements into new and or enhanced products
  • Build supply network capability and capacity for the rollout of new/enhanced products
  • Design and implement alternative ways of sourcing key input materials and delivering finished goods to the market at lowest supply chain complexity
  • Resolve all input and finished product supply issues.
  • Responding to bids, requests for proposals and tender


  • Relevant undergraduate degree: MBA or master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable
  • Minimum of 7 years’ work experience in sales, strategic sourcing of agro inputs, supply chain management and/or operations management
  • Strong experience in working and collaborating across his/her organization and or experience of successfully operating within multi stakeholder environments
  • Evidence of sound commercial knowledge and experience involving a full exposure to commercial principles and documentation
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal principles and the process of progressing opportunity to contract stage
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to influence others and build strong relationships
  • Commitment, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic
  • Good knowledge of the Cassava Value chain will be an added advantage
