Job description
- The primary role is to assess and manage the environmental and social risks and impacts of the company in the construction and operations phases.
- Development & Implementation of the Environmental and Social Management System.
- Implement the company’s Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP).
- To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as it concerns environment, social and governance.
- Work closely with the investors’ ESG and Impact Head.
- Collaborate with the company’s E&S Consultant on the development of the ESMS.
- Oversee and monitor company wide implementation of the ESMS to ensure E&S objectives are met.
- Identify E&S risks and impacts of new and existing business processes and activities.
- Regularly monitor the company’s compliance with investors E&S requirements and policies, including the implementation of agreed E&S action plans (ESAPs).
- Develop, maintain and update E&S Legal Register for the organization.
- Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other relevant assessments to support
- the management of safety, environmental, occupational health, and community related issues
- Select and appoint external consultants for E&S audits and studies.
- Develop consultants ToR and agree on scope of Work.
- Identify and develop E&S KPIs to be monitored at company level.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure alignment of HR policies with company E&S Reference Framework, including ILO Conventions.
- Ensure adequate stakeholder engagement (internal and external), including regulatory agencies, customers, communities, liaising with investors and reporting on ESG performance as per agreed reporting frequency.
- Contribute to the delivery of E&S training for all, and recommend external training requirements where necessary.
- Periodically review and update the company’s ESMS, considering corrective actions, industry trends, international best practices, and investor requirements.
- Identify E&S value add opportunities beyond ESG compliance and risk mitigation e.g., by contributing to long term development impact and sustainability
- Work on ad hoc projects. For instance, external communications on E&S, such as an annual E&S report and case studies highlighting E&S value addition
Qualification:
- BSc and certifications in relevant fields
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience
