Responsibilities and Duties

  • The Director of Works shall head the Directorate of Works of the University and be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day running of the Directorate.

In addition, the underlisted are to be undertaken:

  • Oversee the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of university facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Develop and manage the budget for the Works Department.
  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, and engineers for the various projects.
  • Supervise and lead the Works Department staff.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects within budget. viÕ. Implement effective maintenance strategies for university infrastructure.
  • Prepare regular reports on the status of ongoing and completed projects.

Qualification and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division in Civil Engineering, Architecture, orr elated field. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Attained the rank of a Deputy Director in the University System or tertiary institution with at least 15 years of post-qualification experience. 
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in educational institutions.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies such as COREN, NSE, or NIA.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills alongside ICT compliance.
  • Possess a NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years as Deputy Director and above.

Requirements of Office:

  • Applicant must be proactive with high integrity, moral integrity and good interpersonal relations and be able to provide competent professional leadership in the Directorates to command respect and loyalty of staff.
  • He/She must appreciate the complexity of University system and enjoy good mental/physical health.
  • Candidate should not be 60 years at the time of assumption of office.

Salary and Conditions of Service

  • The salary and conditions of service are as applicable under the University Law and as determined from time to time by the University’s Governing Council.
