Duties:
- Managing and planning the construction project.
- Designing the project structures and hydraulic systems.
- Surveying the construction site and providing a detailed report on how to carry out the project and its consequences.
- Liaising with local authorities, municipal councils, environmental agencies statutory authorities, and government departments on the requirements and implications of the construction.
- Ensuring Occupational Health & Safety compliance on site
- Arm subordinate staff with relevant information on construction
- Advising the workers on the construction process and addressing their concerns
- Solving construction problems as soundly as possible
- Keeping Management and relevant stakeholders informed of progress including possible impediments to construction works
- Conducting surveys on the sites where the construction is to take place
- Acting as the quality control and assurance to ensure that the project objectives are met
- Budget for the project within an estimated cost
- Obtaining the construction materials and verifying them
- Controlling the cost of the materials and labour
- Selecting the ideal equipment to be used
- Scheduling the construction work
- Laying down the preferred construction methods
- Ensuring that the project starts on time and ends within the estimated duration.
Working Relationships:
- Internal: Collaborates with the Board, Management, and Staff.
- External: Engages with Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers, Government Agencies, Local Authorities, Engineering Institutes, and other Stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE) license) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in civil engineering or a related field, with proven experience in design and construction oversight.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in civil engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and STAAD Pro.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis, design principles, and construction methodologies.
- Experience with project management tools and software.
- Certifications: Registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) is required. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Experience with roads, estates, and industrial zones.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in civil engineering.
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and land surveying.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
