The CP/GBV Volunteer will assist in the implementation of child protection and gender-based violence prevention and response activities in IDP camps in Guma (Daudu and Otese Camps) and Gwer-West (Naka Camp). Volunteers will help raise awareness, identify cases, and support referrals for vulnerable children and survivors of GBV. They will work closely with the CP/GBV Officers to ensure that all activities are effectively carried out.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Outreach & Awareness: Conduct community outreach on child protection and GBV prevention, educating community members on risks, available services, and referral pathways.
  • Case Identification: Identify children at risk and GBV survivors, reporting cases to CP/GBV Officers for case management and follow-up.
  • Referrals: Assist in referring children and GBV survivors to appropriate services, such as psychosocial support, medical aid, or legal assistance.
  • Community Engagement: Support the creation and functioning of Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs) and Women and Girls Friendly Spaces (WGFS).
  • Capacity Building: Participate in training to enhance knowledge on CP, GBV, and referral systems, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Data Collection: Help collect data for CP/GBV activities, including tracking awareness sessions, case referrals, and community feedback.
  • Support Services: Provide basic psychosocial support and guidance to vulnerable children and GBV survivors as needed.
  • Safe Spaces: Assist in the setup and management of safe spaces for children and women, ensuring these spaces promote safety and protection.
  • Community Mobilization: Work with local leaders and stakeholders to promote community-driven protection efforts.

SUPERVISION, WORK RELATIONS & OVERSIGHT

  • Volunteers will report directly to the CP/GBV Officers, who will oversee their tasks and provide guidance throughout the project duration.

QUALIFICATIONS OR SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Education: Minimum of a Diploma in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of child protection and GBV issues in humanitarian contexts.
  • Previous experience in community engagement or volunteer work is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups and respect cultural differences.
  • Fluency in local languages spoken in Guma and Gwer-West is an asset.
