Job brief

  • We are looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee our organization’s ongoing operations and procedures. S/he will be the company’s second-in-command and responsible for the efficiency of business.
  • The COO role is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). S/he will have to maintain control of diverse business operations and so, s/he is expected to be an experienced and efficient leader. The COO is also expected to have excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethics.
  • The goal of the COO position is to secure the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable growth.

Responsibilites

  • Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives (IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance, etc.)
  • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Write and submit reports to the CEO in all matters of importance
  • Assist CEO in fundraising ventures
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
  • Manage relationships with partners/vendors

Key Accountabilities

  • Store Operations – Oversee the operations and optimized performance and use of the store
  • Food Delivery Operations – Develop and manage food delivery operations to optimize store performance.
  • Compliance – Ensure standard operating procedures are followed to ensure the highest quality product is being delivered from the kitchens that meet specifications, food handling and food safety requirements and receiving and storage procedures.
  • Strategy – Develop strategies to improve restaurant performance and drive long-term sustainable growth.
  • Financial Development – Demonstrate through leadership and ability to deliver compelling business cases which represent a strong value proposition.
  • People Development – Attract, develop and retain a high performing operations team.

Education/Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ of relevant experience in a similar capacity
  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field. MSc/MBA is a plus, and a certification in a hospitality/culinary related course will be an advantage
  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Officer or Head of Operations, or similar leadership position in a large restaurant/hospitality company
  • Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, marketing etc.
  • Strong financial, and computer skills, with experience developing and managing P&L’s, able to monitor budgets and manage service and labor costs
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to deal effectively with all types of business contacts, employee affairs and customers
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to ensure that all levels of management and developing skills and capability
  • Experience in fundraising will be a plus
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
