The Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa (SLU) was founded by the Jigawa State Government on May 13, 2013. It was licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Universities Commission (NUC) as the 39th State University in Nigeria and the 129th in the Nigerian University System. T… read morehe University is located in the Kafin Hausa town, a rapidly growing cosmopolitan centre, which is also the headquarters of the Kafin Hausa local government area. The Universitys location has had long historical links with the major towns and cities of Jigawa State, and other major metropolitan areas such as Kano, Azare, and Bauchi. The University is about one and half hours drive from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.

This means the University will develop the potentials of the individual and the society by building excellent academic and research facilities, including ICT resources all of which will contribute to the creation of the most serene environment for research and learning within the University.
SLU is poised to attract a diverse and international cast of scholars and student body, support sound research and teaching on local and global issues, and to create academic relationships with many universities and higher education institutions in Nigeria and across the world. It expects all areas of the University to advance knowledge and learning at the highest level and to produce graduates that are imbued with entrepreneurial skills so that they will be able to contribute to the development of the community, the nation, and the world.
