The Gombe State University was established by law on May 6 2004 when the State Governor, Alhaji Muhammed Danjuma Goje (Sarkin Yakin Gombe) signed a Bill of the Gombe State House of Assembly. Academic activities commenced immediately after with the admission of candidates into the School of Basic and… read more Remedial Studies which prepared candidates for admission into the undergraduate programmes of the University.
At inception the University started with three Faculties: Arts & Social Sciences; Education; Science. The University graduated its first set of students in July, 2009 and first maiden convocation ceremony was held on 22nd May 2010, where 165 grandaunts received first degree certificates. Other Faculties have been created: Medicine, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
