The Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Bayelsa State was established in 2009 by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Polytechnic Act of 1990 as amended under the administration of Late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
The Polytechnic Campus is cited along River Nun in Ekowe Community, Southern – Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Federal Polytechnic Ekowe is accessible only by water transport.

Dr. Ineye Douglas Ekpebu was appointed as the Pioneer Rector in 2009. He piloted the affairs of the Polytechnic till his tenure expiration in January 2014. A veteran achiever and an excellent goal getter he has proactively brought the Institution to a great standard
