About the job

  • Drive comprehensive business data gathering from both internal and external sources to support strategic financial planning and analysis. This role is responsible for analyzing, processing, interpreting, and effectively communicating key financial insights to enable management to make informed decisions, optimize resource allocation, and maintain control over operational performance. Achieving these objectives will involve collaborating across the following functional areas:

Management Accounting Functions:

  • Prepare ad hoc reports, including business cases, simulations, sensitivity analyses, and calculations of NPV, IRR, and payback periods to support decision-making.
  • Assist in project appraisals, delivering accurate project and investment analyses for timely outcomes.
  • Review P&L and Balance Sheet accounts, highlighting areas needing corrective action.
  • Ensure accuracy of accounting entries and adherence to financial control procedures.
  • Produce management reports, including product gross margin analysis and industry analysis of competitor accounts.

Accruals/Provisions:

  • Update monthly provisions and accruals in local books and management reports, ensuring sufficient provisions to prevent profit overstatement.

OPEX Analysis:

  • Provide monthly OPEX analysis, advise on cost-saving opportunities, and support cost reduction initiatives.

Revenue Management:

  • Prepare, analyze, and report on monthly revenue and margin.
  • Ensure pricing compliance, conduct profitability analyses, and validate approvals for discounts and promotions.

Business Support Functions:

  • Ensure accuracy in marketing accruals and provisions, and analyze ATL/BTL marketing costs by brand.
  • Advise the marketing team on finance-related matters.
  • Support management and department heads with data-driven insights and implement BI tools and dashboards.

Project Management Office (PMO):

  • Support PMO in project appraisals, delivering accurate analyses for timely decisions.
  • Advise project managers on finance-related matters, building business cases with NPV, IRR, and payback period calculations for informed decisions.

Requirements

  • B.Sc in Accounting; ACA or ACCA certification required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, with advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a structured organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian Accounting Standards and IFRS.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, pay attention to detail, and effectively mentor subordinates.
