The Storekeeper is responsible for the proper handling, storage, and issuance of goods and materials. This role ensures that the store’s operations are run smoothly, inventory levels are accurately maintained, and that supplies are available when needed. The Storekeeper also ensures that all goods are handled in compliance with safety standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an accurate record of inventory, including stock levels, receipts, and issuance of goods.
  • Monitor and track stock levels to ensure timely replenishment of items.
  • Perform regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Receive goods and materials delivered to the store, verifying quantities and inspecting for damage or discrepancies.
  • Ensure all deliveries are documented and stored properly in accordance with company policies.
  • Issue materials to various departments or projects based on authorized requests.
  • Ensure proper documentation of goods issued, maintaining clear and accurate records.
  • Organize and store goods in an efficient and orderly manner, ensuring accessibility and safety.
  • Ensure that perishable or sensitive items are stored under the required conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all stock movements, including receipts, returns, and issues.
  • Prepare and submit regular inventory and stock level reports to the Procurement Manager.
  • Ensure the store is clean, organized, and complies with safety and health standards.
  • Follow procedures for handling hazardous materials, if applicable, and ensure that safety protocols are observed.
  • Coordinate with other departments to understand their material requirements and ensure timely availability of supplies.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team to plan for the purchase of materials based on demand and usage trends.
  • Monitor and implement strategies to reduce wastage and spoilage of goods, especially perishable items.
  • Work closely with vendors to track orders, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely delivery of supplies.
  • Provide weekly and monthly inventory reports to the management team, highlighting any significant changes in stock levels or potential issues.
  • Assist in preparing reports on material usage and inventory levels for financial and audit purposes.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of an OND in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in storekeeping, inventory management, or logistics, preferably in a construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
  • Strong understanding of inventory control procedures and stock management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with different teams.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing stock-related challenges.
