The Land Surveyor will be responsible for conducting land surveys and mapping measurements for project development. This role involves working closely with the project and engineering teams to ensure accurate land measurements, boundary demarcations, and topographical assessments, which are essential for site planning and construction in real estate projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed topographical and boundary surveys for real estate development projects.
  • Use precise measuring tools and GPS equipment to establish property boundaries and other site-specific details.
  • Prepare accurate maps, plans, and detailed drawings based on survey data.
  • Analyze survey results and present data in reports for project planning.
  • Measure areas, elevations, angles, and contours for land mapping and construction purposes.
  • Establish property boundaries and ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Assess and inspect land to ensure suitability for construction projects, including determining elevation levels and water flow.
  • Identify any land development challenges (e.g., terrain obstacles) and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction managers to provide accurate data for site planning and development.
  • Offer technical support during the design and construction phases to ensure that projects adhere to the planned layout.
  • Document all findings, including site layouts, boundary lines, and topographic features, in comprehensive reports.
  • Ensure that all survey reports meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all surveys comply with legal and regulatory standards, including land use laws and zoning regulations.
  • Assist in preparing land titles, easement plans, and other relevant legal documentation for land acquisition.
  • Calibrate and maintain survey equipment, such as theodolites, GPS devices, and levels, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Report any equipment faults or needs for replacement to the management team.
  • Train junior surveyors or assistants on proper surveying techniques and the use of equipment.
  • Supervise surveying activities on site and ensure data accuracy.
  • Liaise with landowners, government agencies, and regulatory bodies to ensure proper authorization and approvals for land use.
  • Communicate findings to clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
    • B.Sc./HND in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
    • Membership in a professional surveying body is an advantage (e.g., Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Surveyors Council of Nigeria).
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Land Surveyor, preferably in real estate or construction.
    • Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as theodolites, GPS, total stations, and levels.
    • Experience with surveying software and CAD tools for drafting site plans and maps.
    • Knowledge of GIS applications for spatial data management and analysis.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
    • Good communication and report-writing skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Must be physically fit and capable of working in outdoor environments.
    • Ability to travel to various project sites as required.
