Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and organized Project Coordinator (Volunteer) to lead the implementation of our expected palliative care project. This volunteer role involves overseeing the delivery of comprehensive palliative care services to vulnerable populations, including patients with life-threatening illnesses, their families, and caregivers. The Project Coordinator will be instrumental in managing the project’s execution, from planning to reporting, ensuring adherence to project goals, timelines, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Plan, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of the palliative care project in line with grant requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the effective delivery of services.
  • Ensure that the programme addresses the physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of palliative care patients and their families.
  • Oversee the procurement and distribution of palliative care medicines, equipment, and other essential resources.
  • Track project progress, prepare regular updates and reports for funders, and ensure compliance with grant guidelines.
  • Work closely with the finance team to monitor project expenditures, ensuring efficient use of the grant budget.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community members, and donors.
  • Assist with organizing and coordinating training for healthcare providers, volunteers, and home-based care workers involved in the programme.
  • Ensure the smooth coordination of transport for care delivery, including scheduling and fuel management for home-based care services.
  • Oversee the provision of bereavement support to the families of patients, working with counselors and volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Strong project management skills with experience in leading healthcare or community-based projects.
  • Knowledge of palliative care principles and experience working in health-related programmes is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience in budget management and grant compliance is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a volunteer capacity.
  • Passion for community service and supporting vulnerable populations.
