JOB SUMMARY
GHIV Africa seeks a Protection Assistant to support child protection activities, focusing on ending child marriage, in Zamfara State.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support community sensitization and awareness creation on child protection issues and the negative impact of early marriages.
- Assist in facilitating workshops with government stakeholders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support the establishment and management of safe spaces for adolescent girls.
- Assist in training adolescent girls on life skills, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) knowledge, and services.
- Provide support for comprehensive case management services, including counseling and referrals.
- Ensure registration of adolescents on the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) data platform.
- Collaborate with vocational training providers to deliver entrepreneurship skills training.
- Assist in distributing startup kits for income-generating activities to adolescent girls.
- Organize and facilitate end of meeting with Community Protection Volunteers Submit monthly reports to the protection officer.
- Give weekly update to Protection officer/or any time needed.
- Assigned to any other related duties.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of Diploma in Social Sciences, Psychology, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in child protection, social work, or related field.
- Strong community engagement and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work in challenging environments.
- Fluency in local languages (Hausa) and English.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with INGOs/NNGOs or similar organizations/works.
- Knowledge of Child Protection Management System (CPIMS) data platform.
- Familiarity with Zamfara State’s cultural context.
- Understanding the local languages (Hausa, and Fulani) and others.
