Job Description
- Plan, organize and execute commercial broiler farming tasks and projects of the organisation.
- Oversee operation of Commercial Broiler Farm Operation as Supervisor.
- A minimum of seven production cycles per year.
- Average body weight of 2kg with narrow range of 1.8kg to 2.2kg using maximum of 3.2kg of professional feed per bird within 4.5 weeks.
- FCR of 1.56.
- Mortality not exceeding 3%.
- Low Staff turnover and overhead.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for pen house and farm preparation, stovking, rearing and harvesting.
- Adaption of stocking densities id necessary.
- Preparation of stocking calendar in consultation with head of Commercial Broiler Farm Operations, and Company’s Residential Veterinarian.
- Managing staff in order to enhance farm performance and cost effectiveness.
- Resolving staff conflict and disagreement .
- Liaising with feed and day-old chick procedures, ensuring positive working relationships are maintained.
- Maintaining a high level of farm presentation at all times.
- Maintaining all farm assests.
- Designing and ensuring bio-security, health and safety, environment and animal welfare procedures and adhered to all times.
- Operational Oversight of all pen house regarding preparation and maintenance, feeding, health and quality assurance, growth and harvesting; overall responsibility for operations of our farming estates with their pen house.
- Manage and monitor metrics, Key Performance Indicators(KPI) tracking, and reports.
- Other functions as prescribed by the line manager.
Requirements and skills
- B.Sc. / HND in Animal science, Agronomy, Agriculture, or related field.
- 3+ years experience
- Strong decision-making.
- Problem-solving.
- Communication.
- The ability to work with people.
- Leadership.
- Administration skills.
- Knowledge of key equipment practices.
